To continue with my return trip to Connemara (previous trips articles from a few years ago, part 1 here and Part 2 here) I’ll cover briefly some of the areas I visited over the 2 day trip. The first dawn location was the ever popular Derryclare Lough, one of the most popular photography location in Ireland. I had spent many hours exploring this location previously so I knew it well. To make it anyway different I think you really need some exceptional light or misty conditions, which I didn’t get unfortunately. I did have very still conditions around dawn which did allow for some nice reflections, which were worth capturing (see below). This image is a 5 shot panoramic as I wanted to compress the background mountains a bit, rather than a single wider angle image.

We revisited Aasleagh Falls (nothing of note captured here) and then onto Doo lough, again an area I visited and spent a lot of time at previously. Heavy rain for much of the time here went very difficult conditions to shoot in and for once I feel it’s a place that looks better with the backdrop visible to some extent. I did manage to capture the tree on the shore line beside the famous pier , something I didn’t capture on my previous visit due to the very low water line. The other images of the pier I’ve shared below.

The final image I’ll share is on the Old bog road near Clifden showing the 12 Bens in the back ground. I was looking for a big wide view of this mountain range from some angle, and this was the best I could find for now. I feel there’s better available heading north from Roundstone when I do return at some stage. This area particularly was an area I would like to go well off the beaten track and explore fully. These bogs offer plenty of opportunity if you can give them the time.
