Kilfarrasy Beach - Part 1

Kilfarrasy beach is probably one of the most well known and popular areas amongst photographers on the Copper Coast. It is also one of the few places where you will probably meet at least one other photographer and probably quite a few walkers.

Of all the locations on the Copper Coast it is one that I find less interesting for some reason but I think its close proximity to Tramore and Waterford makes it a very popular option. There is plenty of features there especially if you are willing to explore some more unique areas and compositions. I’m going to break up this post into 2 parts, one focusing on the east side and the second the west side of the beach ( this will follow later , I feel I need a few more images on that side to complete the project).

Kilfarrasy is quiet a safe beach and is accessible throughout the tidal range as long as you stay on the main beach. Explore further and you will be isolated very quickly by the tide and at quit low levels so please use extreme care if you decide to venture a further.

I feel the compositions that can be found on the main beach are regularly reproduced so I tend to steer away from them but here are a few I have come up with over the years. Some are going back quite a while and I have decided to leave the processing the way I had decided at the time, it can be interesting to see how my preferences have changed over time. Just click on any image to see it full screen.

To finish up just a quick reminder of the up coming workshop which will feature this location, there are still a couple of places available for last minute applications, all details in the previous blog post here . We are looking to run it again later in the year so if you are interested send me a message on the contact page.
