Autumn Colour 2020

I usually try and compile a few images taken during the Autumn months here in Ireland, however this year with a level 5 Covid 19 restrictions on travel, the opportunities were limited. Many of these images were taken before the lockdown and were really only scouting trips with the intention to return once the best of the colour developed.

Making the most of woodland photography is really difficult and old woodland is hard to find in ireland. I have tried to put the hours into walking through woodlands, off the path, to try and find subjects but the reward is very often not worth it as the farther you go off the track the more cluttered it seems to get. I do have one really nice woodland within my 5km , Colligan woods, and is actually where I do most of my running so I can see the progression of the colour over time.

I’ve included some images are quiet old and a re-edit of the original files to see if I could do any better, still feel they are a little cliched (sun burst and all included!) , not sure I’d have take them now. The ever elusive fog and mist were also missing from this years trips, but I hold out hope before the season is out. If you ever get the opportunity to walk around a woodland in fog , it really is an experience that you will remember. This collection of images are from Colligan wood, Glenshelane wood and Crough wood, all well worth a visit at any time of the year.
